DeJuan Wheat Named Men's Basketball Coach

A Louisville native and former basketball standout, DeJuan Wheat is one of the most accomplished players in University of Louisville basketball history, ranking second in career points (2,183) and three-pointers made (323), and fifth in assists (498). During his time with the Cardinals, Wheat led the team to an Elite Eight appearance in 1997 and was the first player in NCAA Division I history to record at least 2,000 points, 450 assists, 300 three-pointers, and 200 steals.?
Following his collegiate success, Wheat was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 1997 and played in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Vancouver Grizzlies. He also had a successful international career before transitioning into coaching, including roles at Valley High School (Louisville, KY) and Indiana University Southeast.?
